One can't study the Jewish people without noticing their religion. And you can't look at the Hebrew people without taking notice of their leader. Joshua became such a leader after the death of Moses. But scripture tells us that there would never be another man like Moses - one highly esteemed by God. "Since then, no prophet has risen in Israel like Moses, whom the Lord knew face to face.." Deut 34:10 There were many men and women ordained by God to serve as leader, prophet, king or queen, but the Lord knew Moses "face to face". To be remembered for one's relationship with God. How great is that! By the rod of God that he carried, Moses performed the most dramatic miracles recorded in history. People of all generations have spoken of them and heretics will forever, it seems, make a reputation by disputing them. But as Moses stood on the edge of eternity, God's Word impresses us with the fact that Moses' personal relationship with God was more noteworthy to remember than the miracles. "How shall I deal with this, Father? I too search for significance in 'things' and I am often guilty of taking our relationship for granted. The works, the signs and wonders, the miracles - all of it is insignificant in light of the fact that you 'know' me." "How can you love me? Surely, 'tolerate' must be a better word. Those 'good' things others note as 'spiritual' and 'godly' are not worthy to be classified such. All I have is a simple sacrifice today - 'the sacrifice of praise - the fruit of lips that confess Your name.'" "Father, I ask one thing only: May it be said of my life, 'God knew him'." WebServant
