Dealing with Strongholds
The Canaanites, Part 3 of 5

Three of the most notable cities of Canaan were Sodom, Gomorrah, and Jerusalem. You probably know the fate of the first two cities and the inhabitants who lived there. But you may have not realized that Jerusalem was enemy land promised to Judah by God.

What would later be called the Holy City was originally an enemy stronghold. It was not just a wicked city; the Canaanite lifestyle in Jerusalem was synonymous with these sins:

  • Homosexuality - Genesis 13:13; 19:1-38; Leviticus 18:22-30; 20:13
  • Incest - Leviticus 18:6-30; 20:10-23
  • Inordinate affection - Leviticus 18:19-30; 20:18-23
  • Adultery - Leviticus 18:20-30; 20:10-23
  • Idolatry - Leviticus 18:21-30; 20:2-5; Deuteronomy 12
  • Profanity - Leviticus 18:21-30
  • Bestiality - Leviticus 18:23-30; 20:15-23
  • Witchcraft - Leviticus 20:6,23; Deuteronomy 18:9-14
  • Whoredom - Leviticus 20:1-23
  • Dishonor to parents - Leviticus 20:9-23
  • Murder - Deuteronomy 12:31; 18:9-14
  • Stealing - Leviticus 19:11-13; 20:23
  • Lying - Leviticus 19:11-16; 20:23

LESSON THREE.
When our SIN NATURE prevails, we attempt to face the Enemy using our own strength and resources.

When THE HOLY SPIRIT prevails, we use God's Word and the power of the Holy Spirit to face the enemy.

Our enemy's name is CRUSHED. The next time you feel under the devil's foot, remember Genesis 3:16. That Scripture says Satan's head will be crushed while he only bruised Jesus' heel at Calvary. Why not call your enemy by his real name?
