"Now it is required that those who have been given a trust must prove faithful." 1 Corinthians 4:2 Tomorrow we celebrate freedom and America's independence. Our first President, George Washington once declared America a "Christian" nation. Today however, liberal revisionists refute and detest that label instead desiring a kinder gentler reputation based on the ungodly goal of secular humanism. In truth, the land of the free and the home of the brave is a country bought with the blood of godly and selfless men and women who sacrificed their lives for people they would never meet. Did you know that twenty-four of the original signers of the Declaration of Independence were seminary educated? Did you know that erasing the multitude of references to God from their writings, would leave our nation's sacred documents non-understandable gibberish? Still, some people believe the freedom we enjoy guarantees us unfettered liberty without accountability. Sadly such people don't grasp the concept that liberty is not a license. It's sad to think that the unguarded misbehavior of a few people has generated consequences that the innocent and their children must bear for generations to come. America can no longer be called a Christian nation. Instead, this nation founded by believers, bought with their blood and probably kept from God's judgment today by her prayerful intercession, doesn't deserve to be associated with Jesus' name. Someone has said that God may have to apologize to the inhabitants of Sodom and Gomorra waiting judgment if He doesn't destroy America. Sad, but true! None of us deserves to bear Christ's name, but do you expect God to apologize for your behavior to those awaiting judgment as you get a pass for your neglect? Scripture warns us to wake up and realize the responsibility we have for the privilege of bearing Jesus' name: "Anyone, then, who knows the good he ought to do and doesn't do it, sins." (Jas 4:17) Be faithful brother and sister - faithful to follow Jesus; faithful to pray; faithful to resist sin; faithful to be a good citizen and defend America's liberty with your life, if asked to do so. May we not expect our children to fight an enemy made stronger by our neglect. Just Thinkin'... WebServant
