"The Son of Man did not come to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many." Mt 20:28 On a Friday long ago, a man hung on a cross as a willing sacrifice for sin that has long held man captive. He didn't die just for those who crucified him, but for all those separated from God by virtue of their uncovered sin nature. Moses' increasingly harsh warnings to Pharaoh were all disregarded. That is, until it required the life of his first born son. I guess that's the price of getting the king's undivided attention. Letting the people of Israel leave Egypt peacefully was a matter of pride until his son's life was taken. That was what it took for Pharoah to surrender his pride. Take your people; just get out of here. I never want to see you or talk to you again. Let me grieve in peace!" It's amazing that more times than not the person who commits a crime will not pay for it. In the case of Passover, it was a lamb that was the sacrifice for sin. Understand the lamb didn't have a say when it came to taking one for the family. He may have been the family's pet, but his life would be the price if the lives of his extended family were to be saved. The blood of that lamb spread over the top and sides of the front door identified the house as a place where the angel of death should bypass. One might say that the horizontal and vertical trail of blood on the door jambs resembled the shape of the cross of Calvary. There, Jesus, the Lamb of God willingly shed his blood to redeem those who seek refuge under his extended arms. In Psalms 25:11, we read "For the sake of your name, O Lord, forgive my iniquity, though it is great." Such is the plea of the saint who finds hope in the arms of Jesus. Have you come under the protection of the Lamb of God? If so, know that you are no longer a sinner, but a sinner saved by grace. The difference is defined by the presence or absence of the blood of the Lamb of God over the door of your heart. If it's not there, you my friend, have a real problem if the angel of death passes over your house today. Just Thinkin'... WebServant 1. Developed from Read
