"Make garments for Aaron, for his consecration, so he may serve me as priest. Exodus 28:3 The priest was a person who represented holiness and represented those who could not do so for themselves. A priest was dedicated to serve in the Temple and was from a single tribe of Israel, namely Levi. Aaron, the progenitor of all priests to come, did not set himself up to serve, but was chosen and called by God. (Heb 5:4) The role of priest ultimately reached fruition in the person of Jesus Christ, the epitome of holiness and our divine intercessor. In the consecration of a priest, he would be dressed in a clean white robe. But before the commissioning service was over, he would look more like a meat cutter in a butcher shop than someone standing behind a pulpit blessing people. At some point oil would be poured on the head of the priest to anoint him as an ambassador of God's work. A ram would be slain and its blood poured out on the horns and the sides of the altar before being mixed with anointing oil and then sprinkled on the priest's garment. If you believe that being holy is being all clean and white as the fresh fallen snow, think again. The picture of holiness in Scripture is death for an innocent animal followed by sprinkling its blood on most everything in the Temple and on the priest, including his clothing.. The disciples were concerned when a woman broke open an alabaster box containing fragrant perfume and poured it on Jesus' head. It didn't matter how much it cost, she considered it expendable when compared to what Jesus was about to do. She was anointing the Lamb of God before he gave his life as an innocent sacrifice that would atone for the man's sin. But sadly, not everyone allows the blood of Jesus to fall on their lives. Because of that, they never come to know the intercessory work of Jesus, the High Priest and die in their sin. What about you. Are you clean according to the world's standard or are you washed in the blood of the Lamb? Just Thinkin'... WebServant 1. Developed from Read
