...But each one should be careful how he builds.
1 Cor 3:10b

Proverbs says the lamp of the Lord searches the spirit of a man, searching out his inmost being. (Vs. 21:27) But I wonder how many of us really think about God looking in our inner heart? I'm afraid too many of us believe we failed God today and have not done what we know we should have done.

Paul's image of our spiritual building teaches that our lives are to date an accumulation of what we've invested in it. When we build a house using weak material, everything that relies on it for strength or stability is subject to collapse. But the use of a strong material in our spiritual temple makes every other member stronger. In other words, a structure is no stronger than its weakest member.

When we came to Christ, we received the Holy Spirit who for the first time in our life gave us something upon which to build. In fact, for the first time in our life, we gained a reason to build. He gave us a foundation that even supports weak members, but because He also gives us the ability to choose wisely, we choose better materials because He lives in us.

Now that you know your life is no stronger than your weakest member, it should make you want to know where your weakness is. But have you prayed and asked God to reveal it to you or are you living in denial thinking you don't have a problem when everyone around you knows you do?
