Therefore, I urge you to imitate me.
1 Cor 4:16

Paul referred to those he discipled as his children. In his letter to the young Christians at Corinth, Paul knew they needed a role model so he offered himself as the template.

I doubt many people would make the offer that Paul made. Most people find the demands of a holy life out of reach. They live almost as if they expect to fail. Asking someone to emulate them would be an invitation to disaster. I'm certain Paul felt certain pressure but he felt the risk was worth it. But the story doesn't end there.

Paul also knew that his "children" were expected to perform under pressure just like him. They, and we have no excuse for spiritual slippage, because other people are watching to see what we do under stress.

Maybe what you need to pump some adrenaline into your spiritually anemic life is to ask someone else to keep you accountable for your Christian walk. I can think of no better way to do that like witnessing to someone and seeing them accept Jesus as Lord. But even greater is your action to disciple them and now you know the best way to do that: live like Jesus and invite others to follow your example.
