Many consider the last words of Jesus before ascending to heaven, the Great Commission. "Therefore, go and make disciples of all nations..." We call the organization promoting Christianity evangelical, where the primary focus is on conversion. In fact, the sole work of missionaries is conversion and discipleship, but to do this it's necessary to convince someone they need converting. Perhaps you consider yourself evangelical. If so, then you know the frustration of the work. No one preached to more lost people than Paul, but he found that only supernatural resistance could prevent a strong evangelical message. In those cases, one can only surmise that Satan, the god of this world was getting personally involved to prevent conversion. Paul compared this crime to the blinding of the lost person's eyes to see the light of the gospel. So is there any hope for someone who has been blinded by Satan? Yes, there is. But it takes supernatural power to face off against supernatural power. This gives rise to asking why we see so few conversions. Could it be that we preach but we tend to do it without the power of God energizing us? In many cases that may be true, but there are many other situations where even the power of God can't seem to undo the grasp of Satan on people's lives. Physical blindness, as Paul called it is not usually terminal, but spiritual blindness can be if supernatural "healing" doesn't reach a person before they die and give them a view of the truth with a willingness to turn from sin and embrace it. Are you blind; spiritually that is? Have you been duped by the Prince of Darkness into thinking Jesus is not who He claims to be? I hope you've embraced the Way, the Truth and the Life whose name is Jesus. If so, thank God for healing you with 20/20 spiritual eyesight rather than fitting you with corrective lenses for your terminal vision.
