Jeremiah received a word from God and it wasn't just something relevant for his day. He proclaimed the coming Branch of David's line, the Messiah. Together with his coming will be the gathering of the remnant from all around the world to return to the land we know as Israel. It was 1948 when Israel was recognized as a sovereign nation by the United Nations, and this after hundreds of years of being scattered all around the world. This prophecy came true, and the one of the ruler to come also came true over 2,000 years ago. A little baby by any other standard, this child fulfilled every Old Testament prophecy of the Messiah as spoken by patriarchs, kings and prophets of old. The name given him was Emmanuel, meaning "God with Us." John tells us this little baby we now know as the Righteous Branch of David's royal line is the Alpha and Omega, present at the Creation and there beyond far eternity's open door. (Re: John 1:1; Rev 22:13) How do you know Him today, friend? Is he Alpha and Omega to you? You can relax a little. Your receptivity doesn't make any difference in the fact He is what He is. The word of God says He is the beginning and the end; you weren't there to see Him at the beginning, but you'll see Him at the end. But do you know Jesus Christ as "Righteousness?" In that case, it does matter whether you receive him or deny him. He is Righteousness only to those who receive Him, for there is no other way God receives men but through the righteousness of the Lord Jesus Christ. If you claim to be a child of God, you'll only find your redemption in the shadow of the cross of Calvary. His shed blood is the only righteousness you need to be saved; nothing else matters! Jehovah- tsidkenu. This compound name of God is what the phrase , "The Lord our Righteousness, means. It's pronounced Sid-kee-new and it's a name you should speak and speak often. Interestingly, Old Testament Saints used no vowels when they wrote God's name. They didn't want to speak it for they felt it was improper to speak one's name when face to face, He was too holy to gaze upon and live. But when Jesus came and men walked and talked with the Prince of Peace, they not only looked at Him but cherished personal time spent with Him. It was far from the deadly fear that ruled men's hearts for ages. Yes, God has a face and it's Jesus Christ; He has a Name and it Jehovah-tsidkenu. I pray you've found life through what that Name means. While we should fear God, the Son gave us the privilege of calling Him by name, "The Lord, my Righteousness. Through His work, we can know peace.
