Not a day goes by that I don't question why I do what I do. As a servant of this Internet ministry known as Prayertower, I look for opportunities to pray and for those who want to learn how to pray. What I've found over the years is a lot of people who not only look for someone to pray for them but to also show them the way to pray. I admit at times it feels like the countless hours I spend will come to nothing in the end. Don't get me wrong; the work is rewarding but I'm certain many will question the value of the work because of both the dominant people group it currently serves and the few lives it affects. If I've learned anything from Scripture, it's not to measure God's blessing and calculate anything. Scripture reveals God's movement through small things and his indignation at those who lead people astray for the sake of affecting many. Paul taught young Timothy most everything he needed to know to serve the Lord. In the twilight of Paul's life, the seasoned veteran knew better to surmise he had taught his disciple everything he would need to know. Therefore, he explained that his young student should use his teaching as a pattern for forming his own conclusion, of course under the divine directive of the Holy Spirit. Paul invited Timothy and others to follow his example. For someone who is not firm in their resolve to follow God every step of the way, that can be a scary proposition. Paul however, was confident his actions could be emulated by others and God would guide them in the same way He guided him. Is your life forming a godly pattern of what others can replicate after you're gone from this earth? At least two things can prevent that from happening: 1) if you don't know what you believe and 2) your life is too inconsistent to set a standard to follow. It's said that a person who aims at nothing will hit it every time. I trust that's not the pattern you're leaving those coming behind you.
