...who have been chosen according to the foreknowledge of God the Father...
1 Peter 1:2

It's funny to hear someone with denominational inclination attempt to define God's foreknowledge and choice. Some view it as predestination and defend man's freedom of choice as being dominant over God's plan. Other's view it as man having no role in salvation but simply being a member of an elite group of people chosen without regard to their personal desire. Both ideas are skewed.

God's word is not voided by man's insistence on having his way. Neither can anyone even comprehend God's mind, much less control what He will do and when He will do it. The word of God stands forever against anyone or anything that tries to diminish it.

God is omnipresent, which means He was there before creation of the world and will be there on the other side of the end of the world. Since I came to accept Jesus as personal Savior at a young age, Scripture tells me that God knew my decision before I chose. That is foreknowledge.

The omnipresence of God also means He is in the past, present and future at the same time. That being the case, God has already enjoyed the future (and beyond) with me. To say he did not choose me implies He has no plan. To say he has no knowledge of my future implies he has no control.

Today, you may be still considering your choice. You may even find the thought of God's foreknowledge and choice intrusive. All this because you view yourself as centric to God's existence and can't bring yourself to lower your opinion of your importance. It shouldn't surprise you then, to learn God only chooses those who choose Him. He will not drag anyone kicking and screaming into heaven who doesn't want to go there. He will however, see many go that same way into eternal death because they made the wrong decision. I hope you make the right choice!
