Daily Prayer Journal

Friday July 3, 2009

As for me, far be it from me
that I should sin against the Lord
by failing to pray for you.

1 Sam 12:23 (GWT)

Prayer warriors have committed to reading this journal and praying for the needs of those listed. If you want us to pray, send an email and let us know. If you are leaving a testimony, be brief, be specific and give God the glory.

Some try to make it complex and create rules of engagement for prayer, when in fact its as simple as being quiet and listening to what You are saying through Your Spirit and Your word. Thank you for the sweet hour of prayer.

2:31 PM [webservant] Americans are poised to celebrate the July 4th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence. Sunday worship services around the country will sing patriotic hymns and thank You for blessing our nation. Towns and cities will use firework displays to finalize a day of celebration in the next few days. Most every telecast on Christian radio and television will focus on Your blessing of our country, Heavenly Father. But the day after, our elected leadership will continue to force atheistic pagan worship down our throat as we travel the slippery road to destruction. Righteousness exalts a nation, but sin is a reproach to any people. We are those people and while You are our Ebenezer, You are also the Righteous Judge who will not let our neglect go unpunished.
[webservant] Apathy may have played a part in getting us here, but our failure to humble ourselves and pray dug the spiritual hole where our nation will be buried. [webservant] We played and not prayed. We've ridden the wave of blessing and clung to the coat tail of those who sacrificed to build this country. We sung the songs and celebrated with the best of them but not done anything to stop the hemorrhaging.
[webservant] I would ask forgiveness for our nation, but few, if any feel any remorse.
[webservant] Someone once said "America, You're too young to die!" There have been revivals in history where people were poised to fall off the cliff of destruction, but repented of their sin and were saved with their nation. It is possible, but not if we continue to sleep spiritually.
[webservant] What will it take Father? Do we have any hope as a nation, or is justice due to be fair to Sodom and Gomorrah?
