Investments passed on to ungrateful people will result in chaos and loss.

Live it
Rehoboam became king when his father Solomon died. What does a person do when expected to carry on tradition and honor his father's commitments, especially when you don't share his conviction, love or dedication? If Rehoboam is any indication, you do your own thing, even if it means losing everything that was given to you. Today is Independence Day in the United States of America and there is little doubt we have become a nation of Rehoboams. Our nation's founding fathers are renown for their personal sacrifice necessary to lay the foundation of freedom and liberty. That freedom was subsequently redeemed through the shed blood of other selfless people. Until the last few months, our nation has been admired, respected and feared for our integrity, our values and our willingness to shed our blood for securing similar freedom for lesser nations. What we become tomorrow is not in the hands of politicians, governments or evil people, but what God's people will do from this point on. Will we humble ourselves and pray, seek God and turn from our wickedness, or lie to our children and tell them our trouble was someone else's fault.
Pray it
It never ceases to amaze me that we, Your people will not pray, much less humble ourselves and repent. Yet we will celebrate today and recount the past. We need to begin thinking about today and the future, and not find our glory in the past. We exist because of Your blessing, Jehovah God, and for no other reason. Do whatever it takes to call Your people to action, even it means destroying one more insignificant nation to prove a point.
