One-Minute Devotionals reveal in a single sentence, underlying truth about specific Scripture.

When they saw this, they tore their clothes in grief. Then each one loaded his donkey and went back into the city.

Seeing the unexpected may surprise us, but changing our plans to accommodate it should not.

Live it
The captain of a large seafaring ship spied a steady light through the fog in the direction he was headed. He told his signalman to send the message to the vessel in his path, "Alter your course ten degrees south!" The reply promptly came back, "Alter your course ten degrees north." The captain repeated his command adding his rank as Captain. The reply came back, "Seaman, Second-class here." Then the captain angrily added, "I'm a battleship," to which the seaman replied, "I'm the lighthouse."

If you're like me, there's no doubt been many times in the past when something seemed to be in the way of your progress and plans. At the time, the change seemed counterproductive and you no doubt questioned where you were going and why. Then some time later, after adapting to it, you looked back and saw God's hand in it. Might I suggest that when following God, we need to, not only be close enough to see God in it, but even closer to hear His instruction.

Pray it
Every problem in my life now seems a course correction, rather than an obstacle. Thank you for being the Magnetic Compass that draws me to You, but the GPS that confirms You always know where I am.
